Houston's Freedom Over Texas Festival Called Off Because Of Rain

HOUSTON, TX -- Houston's annual Freedom Over Texas festival at Eleanor Tinsley Park has been called off because of the rain.

City officials said the park on the banks on Buffalo Bayou is completely drenched, making for a messy and muddy venue.

As a result, city officials have closed the area to the general public.

However, the spectacular fireworks display planned for 9:30 p.m., will go on as planned.

Even though the @FreedomOverTX fireworks will go on as planned, NO ONE is allowed on the fairgrounds or near the festivities. The area along Allen Parkway and Sabine will remain closed. Please stay home and stay safe. #Breakingnews #HouNews #houwx
