HPD: Missing 12-Year-Old Girl Found After Amber Alert

A missing 12-year-old girl who was believed to be in danger was located Thursday evening, police said.

HOUSTON, TX — A missing 12-year-old girl who was believed to be in danger was located Thursday evening, police said.

Jennifer Castillo was found in the 6600 block of Harbor Town Drive about 9 p.m., the Houston Police Department said. Police said the girl was found alone at her apartment complex. She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition to be evaluated for injuries, according to police.

No other information has been released.

Houston Police had issued an Amber Alert for the 12-year-old girl. She was last seen about 7 p.m. Tuesday at her family's apartment in the 6600 block of Harbor Town Drive in southwest Houston.

Houston investigators said they received a missing person's report from the family Wednesday morning.

Investigators said Castillo stepped outside to talk on the phone and had not been seen since.

Castillo's family later received messages that indicated that she'd been kidnapped. Investigators said as soon as they learned there was a threat and that she was not a runaway, they issued the Amber Alert.

Castillo's family has ties to Honduras, where police said Castillo's mother still lives.
