Judge Sets $2.25M Bond For Gang Member Accused In 3 Murders

Kendrick Johnson, 19, who is a member of the 103's criminal street gang, is accused of taking part in as many as six murders, officials said

HOUSTON — A reputed gang member who is accused of taking part in at least three murders, and suspected in three other murders appeared in a Houston courtroom for a bond hearing on Wednesday.

Kendrick Johnson, 19, who according to prosecutors is a member of the 103's criminal gang in Houston's Third Ward, is accused of killing Kenneth Roberson, 24, on Sept. 23 and Delindsey Mack, 18, on Nov. 13 near Lamar High School.

He is also charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, prosecutors said.

Evidence implicating Johnson in a third murder was presented that resulted in a new charge, according to prosecutors.

Johnson’s attorney was in court to ask for a more reasonable bond amount, while prosecutors asked the court to hold the accused killer without bond.

Prosecutors presented video evidence and social media posts and conversations spotlighting Johnson’s gang ties, and his alleged involvement in several violent crimes, KTRK reported.

Ultimately, the judge set Johnson’s bond at $2.25 million, KPRC reported.
