Living At Eagle's Trace Is Money Well Spent

Residents of Erickson Senior Living community in West Houston have the freedom to budget with confidence

When Ann and Bill Steiner were exploring senior living communities near their house, Eagle's Trace, an Erickson Senior Living community in West Houston, Tex., was the clear standout for its warm and welcoming atmosphere.

"Eagle's Trace was the last one we visited," recalls Ann. "It felt so comfortable--just like home."

Another significant draw was the financial value of a move to a maintenance-free residence at Eagle's Trace.

"Our house was going to need a lot of updating--a new roof, foundation repair, and tree trimming. They were things that needed fixing sooner than later," Ann says. "Bill wasn't excited about getting on ladders and trimming trees, and we didn't want to put more money into the house."

She continues, "We hadn't planned to move in soon after our first visit, but we thought, 'Why wait?'"

Since settling into their maintenance-free residence nine years ago, the Steiners have been able to manage their budget with confidence and enjoy their retirement to the fullest!

Predictable expenses

Residents like Ann and Bill don't have to worry about maintenance and repairs thanks to the monthly service package, which bundles everyday costs into one predictable bill. It also covers most utilities, a meal plan at on-site restaurants, access to amenities, regularly scheduled transportation, and more.

In fact, the package supports the more than 90% of seniors queried who say they want predictable monthly expenses to cover most of their daily activities, meals, and housing--according to a recent survey commissioned by Erickson Senior Living via Edge Research.

For Ann, the monthly service package has enhanced her quality of life as well as her mother's.

"My mother became a resident of Eagle's Trace in 2023," she explains. "I have seen her stress of maintaining a house completely subside. Now, her attention has changed to being a part of all the positives offered here at our community."

Newfound freedom

Ann and Bill further shortened their to-do list by rightsizing their living space. "We realized that we didn't need 3,600 square feet anymore," notes Ann.

So, the couple decided on the Pecos floor plan, a two-bedroom, two-bath with den residence.

"We'd been in our house for 37-plus years, so we needed to do a lot of downsizing," she explains. "Planning and Moving Consultant Haven Benoit came to our house and helped us decide how to move into a 1,600-square-foot home. That was so helpful!"

Their planning included a special place for their heirloom porch swing, now residing by a large picture window in their residence, and space for their holiday decor, including 13 Christmas trees.

With less cleaning and chores to complete, Ann and Bill have more free time to pursue their hobbies and interests. Bill belongs to the veterans group and the physicists group, while Ann participates in the Resident Advisory Council by serving on the philanthropy and dining committees.

"Our residents really find value in how much their lives have improved, compared to staying in older houses that may have become increasingly worrisome and expensive to maintain," says Finance Director Tricia Stringfellow.

Peace of mind

Most of all, the Steiners appreciate the peace of mind that comes from the 90% refundable entrance fee* and knowing they--and Ann's mother--have a Home for Life.*

The 90% refundable entrance fee, collected as part of the residency process, will go back to you or your beneficiaries, if or when you leave the community.

And no one ever expects to run out of money, but sometimes unforeseen issues arise that can quickly deplete your hard-earned savings and put you at risk. At Eagle's Trace, we've planned for life's uncertainties and are prepared to assist eligible residents who outlive their resources. No one will be asked to leave the community because of a genuine inability to pay.

"As a daughter, the promise of a home for life was such an important aspect for my mother, knowing she would never have to move again," Ann says. "I feel so fortunate knowing my mother is happy, healthy, and safe, which is priceless."

"A worry-free lifestyle, access to amenities and activities, and a home for life--everything adds up to a wise investment," notes Stringfellow. "Our residents are confident that their move was money well spent!"
