Man Accused In Random Attacks At METRORail And Bus Lands In Jail

HOUSTON — A man accused of several random and violent attacks on METRO passengers since Dec. 31, was arrested over the weekend, police said. Torrence Donell Brown, 35, was arrested Saturday without incident by METRO Police.

He is charged with two counts aggravated assault and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials sent out an alert on Friday asking for the public's help in finding Brown. Police said Brown attacked a man and a woman while the were waiting at the Preston Station rail platform on Dec. 31.

The victims said that Brown approached them and began punching and kicking the male victim and then hit the female victim.

The second attack happened on Jan. 10, at 12200 Eastex Freeway when a male customer boarded a METRO bus.

Police say Brown, who was sitting near the front of the bus, stood up and began assaulting the customer.

The suspect fled the scene and paramedics were called to assist the victim.

Brown has apparently has been arrested previously for assault. He is being held in the Harris County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
