Man Charged With Capital Murder In Tow Truck Driver Death

Jonathan Nguyen​, 27, is charged with capital murder for running over and killing Curtis Martin​, after stealing Martin's tow truck.

HOUSTON, TX -- A man who led police on a chase in a stolen tow truck on Friday afternoon hasd been charged with capital murder.

Police arrested Jonathan Nguyen, 27, and charged him with killing Curtis Martin, after stealing Martin's tow truck.

The incident began just before 3 p.m. Friday in the 10700 block of Beechnut in southwest Houston, when Nguyen stole Martin's tow truck while Martin wsa repossessing a car.

Assistant Police Chief James Jones said Martin and another man pursued the stolen tow truck west on Beechnut Street.

When they caught up to the tow truck, Jones said Martin goty out of he car to confront Nguyen,and that Nguyen allegedly ran over Martin;.

"Another witness followed the suspect and flags down a police officer; the police officer gets behind the suspect and chases him, and he eventually gets into another accident in Sugar Land," Jone said.

Nguyen was slightly injured in the crash and taken to an area hospital, and is in police custody.

Officials said the do not know why Nguyen stole Martin's tow truck.

The case remains under investigation.
