Man Confesses To Murder Of Aunt And Uncle: Police

HOUSTON, TX — The nephew of a man and a woman who vanished last summer has allegedly confessed to killing the siblings, police said.

Dina Escobar disappeared after she went looking for her brother at his home. Investigators found her van in Galveston, several days after they were both reported missing.

Their nephew, Ramon Escobar, was questioned by Houston Police about his aunt and uncle's disappearance, but initially denied any involvement.
He later fled to California and where he is accused of killing four homeless men, the attempted murder of eight others and several robberies, all withing a span of three weeks.

Escobar was arrested on Sept. 24, and allegedly confessed to police that he killed his uncle, and then killed his aunt when she came to his uncle's house looking for her brother.
Escobar allegedly told investigators that he beat his uncle to death with a police baton, and dumped his body in a dumpster not far from his home.
When Dina Escobar came looking for her brother two days later, Escobar allegedly said he hid in her van while she searched her brothers home.
When she came about and began driving around to other locations where he brother might be, he attacked her and beat her to death with the police baton.
He wrapped her body in plastic and dumped her body in a dumpster in east Houston, police said.
Their bodies are unlikely to ever be recovered, officials said.
Escobar faces the death penalty for the murders in California, and it's unknown when he will face capital murder charges for the murders of his aunt and uncle, officials said.
