HOUSTON -- A man who threatened the lives to two children in order to rob their parents was sentenced to 25-years behind bars last week. John Michael Medina, 25, committed a string of armed robberies in May 2018 that involved Median stalking his victims and pointing a loaded shotgun in their faces to demand money.

In a press release from Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg's office, Assistant District Attorney Mikahl Abou-Sayed said that on one of those occasions, Medina sneaked up behind a couple in a parking lot of a grocery store on FM 1960, and pointed a shotgun in the face of a7-year-old girl.

Abou-Sayed said Median threatened to kill her if her father didn't hand over his wallet. Fearful that his child would be killed in front of him, he handed over his wallet, which contained just $7.

"He drove around with a loaded shotgun and pointed it at two babies while robbing their parents," said Assistant District Attorney Mikahl Abou-Sayed. "Having a gun pointed at you is traumatizing enough, but having a gun pointed at your child is unforgivable."

In addition to the seven-year-old, in another instance, he threatened to shoot a one-year-old child.
