1. The NRA's annual meeting taking place in Houston this weekend will go on as scheduled, according to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. The meeting is scheduled to take place from May 27 through May 29 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Turney said, "We simply cannot cancel a conference or convention because we do not agree with the subject matter." (KHOU 11)
2. Nearly five years after Hurricane Harvey, some Aldine residents in north Harris County, are facing a deadline to sell their flood-damaged properties. Residents are demanding a better deal from county commissioners as the deadline looms. (Fox 26 Houston)
3. METRO is offering free rides to all Houston-area students from From June 1 to August 31, transit officials announced. K-12 and college students will be eligible for free rides throughout the transit system. (Click2Houston)
4. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee held a vigil at the federal building downtown Tuesday night with other local leaders and groups. The congresswoman called for emergency sessions at the state and federal levels to put forth and vote on gun violence legislation restricting who and what types of weapons are allowed. (ABC 13)
5. Truth in Accounting has released a new analysis of the 10 most populous U.S. cities that includes their largest underlying government units and their tax burden. Houston made the list at number three with -$26,000 for taxpayers. (Houston Patch)

- School districts across the Houston area responded after a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 children and two adults dead. (Click2Houston)
- Montgomery City Council members voted Tuesday, May 24, to terminate the contract with City Administrator Richard Tramm, effective the same day, with a 3-1 vote. (Community Impact News)
