1. Lower-income households in Houston can apply now for a pilot program to receive $375 a month for a year. Mayor Sylvester Turner has announced a pilot program to give 110 households $375 a month for a year, totaling $4,500. (Fox 26 Houston)

2. Pearland Council members will be barred from entering into a contract with the city of Pearland for a set time limit after they leave office after a new change. Pearland City Council at its May 23 regular meeting passed the second reading of an ordinance that amends the city’s ethics ordinance. (Community Impact News)

3. Typhoon Texas will reopen its doors May 28 for the summer season, according to a May 23 press release from the brand. It is located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Road, Katy. (Community Impact News)

4. Harris County says it is prepared for primary elections this time around, which start today. Some Republican leaders are still pushing for new leadership in Harris County. “I’m not confident at all in the elections administrator in Harris County to have a seamless election at any time,” Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi said. 5. Marin Slanina, owner of Houston's Star Sailor, says there were just two days between recent robberies this past weekend. The incidents left her beer bar, a hair salon and a nail salon to deal with broken windows and empty cash boxes. (Chron)
