Robbery Suspect Killed In Shootout With Deputies
A robbery suspect was killed in a shootout with deputies, and three others were arrested after they allegedly robbed a food delivery driver.

CYPRESS, TX – An armed robbery suspect was killed and three others arrested after a shootout with more than 10 law enforcement officers Friday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 3:10 p.m. at the Chesapeake Apartments in the 8700 block of Point Park Drive, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
According to a police report, the incident was sparked after a delivery driver was called to a vacant apartment to deliver food. When he arrived, police said he was robbed by two men and two boys who answered the door.

An off-duty Harris County Deputy Constable who was working an extra security job at the apartment complex met up with Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, who were directed to another vacant apartment where the suspects were possibly hiding.
Deputies went in and found the four robbery suspects when the shooting began. Deputies took cover outside while the suspects followed and continued shooting from a balcony, according to investigators.

The four suspects then ran from the apartment and the deputies chased them through the complex. During the foot pursuit, one of the suspects who was identified as 19-year-old Javier Lopez, stopped and turned to fire at the deputies.

When Lopez started shooting, investigators said 10 sheriff’s deputies and one Cy Fair ISD officer at the apartment complex fired at Lopez, killing him.
Deputies arrested 17-year-old Joshua White and two boys, 13 and 15 years old. All three were charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
This deputy-involved shooting is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs unit, the Office of Inspector General and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Investigators.
