Say It Ain't Snow: Cold Front May Bring The White Stuff To Texas

Snow flakes will take a less political meaning this week with flurries in the forecast for Houston on Friday

HOUSTON, TX — It may not feel like it with temps hovering at about 70 degrees on Wednesday, but there could be snow on the ground in some parts of the Lone Star state by Friday morning.

While many in Texas, and other states, loathe the white stuff, Houstonians who are all too used to shorts and flip-flops on Christmas day look forward the occasional, albeit rare, weather phenomenon of snow.

But forecasters are calling for a chance of flurries, but, and yes there's a but, the ground temperatures will be above freezing and that means the likelihood of it sticking to the ground for a rare snowball fight or even a mini snow man, are slim to zero.

The best chance of that will be in north Harris County and into Montgomery and Waller counties.

Last year, the Houston area was treated to snow two weeks before Christmas. It was enough to have a little fun, but most school districts remained open.
