Seen This Man? Police Release Sketch of Houston Doctor's Killer

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person who killed Dr. Mark Hausknecht.

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police homicide investigators released a video and a sketch of the man who shot and killed a prominent Houston cardiologist last Friday morning. Dr. Mark Hausknecht, 65, was shot several times while riding his bicycle along Main Street near the Texas Medical Center.

Hausknecht’s attacker, who was also riding a bicycle in the same direction, rode past the doctor before turning and firing at him. The killer is described as a 30-year-old white or Hispanic man, about 5-feet-10 and slender. Witnesses said the attacker was wearing a gray warm up jacket, khaki short, a tan cap, sunglasses, and was seen riding a light colored mountain bike.

A reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477, or HPD Homicide at 713-308-3600.

According to a news release, police are reviewing a surveillance footage that shows Hausknecht and his attacker riding the same direction on Main Street, near Holcomb Blvd.

Police are asking anyone with video surveillance of the area recorded between 8:40 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday to contact Houston Police Homicide investigators at 713-308-3600.
