HOUSTON, TX -- A registered sex offender who eluded capture for more than two years was arrested in Houston on July 15.
Anthony Fitzgerald Turner, 54, who was a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Turner, who was considered a high-risk offender, was convicted in 1984 by a Galveston County jury of aggravated sexual assault and burglary of habitation with intent to commit a sex offense.

This time, a jury found him guilty of sexual assault after an incident involving a 29-year-old woman.
Turner was released on parole in early 2016, and in June officials said he violated the conditions of his parole by failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
Recently, law enforcement officials received a tip through Crime Stoppers that Turner was in northeast Houston, and he was arrested without incident.
The person who tipped off police to Turner's location received a $3,000 reward, officials said in a press release.
So far in 2018, law enforcement agencies have arrested 16 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including nine sex offenders and seven gang members.
Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders.
