TSA Checkpoint Closed At Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport

The TSA shortage is due to the partial government shutdown, which is now going into its fourth week.

HOUSTON — The security checkpoint at Terminal B inside Bush Intercontinental Airport were closed Sunday afternoon due to a shortage of TSA workers. Airport officials announced Monday that the security checkpoint inside Terminal B would remain closed for now.

The TSA shortage is due to the partial government shutdown, which is now going into its fourth week. But Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport is not the only airport affected by the TSA shortages.

Other airports in other cities are reporting the same thing, with many TSA employees, who are not being paid during the shutdown, calling out sick.

Flights scheduled to depart from Terminal B will operate as normal. Passengers with flights scheduled to depart from Terminal B are being directed to the ticket counters and TSA checkpoints located in Terminal C and Terminal E.

The partial government shutdown is the result of a stalemate between President Donald Trump and his demands for strict border security that includes a $5 billion wall along the U.S. Mexico border, and Democratic House leaders who have refused to fund a wall.
