Wrecker Driver Follows Accused Hit And Run Driver Home: Police

Police are trying to determine of an accused hit and run driver was intoxicated when he allegedly hit and killed a man Sunday night.

HOUSTON — A tow truck driver helped lead Houston police to a man who allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian and left the scene of the accident, police said. The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at Interstate 45 north and W. Mt. Houston Road.

When police arrived, they found a man laying in the roadway. He was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A tow truck driver who saw the accident, followed the driver of the car to a home near Greenspoint off Imperial Valley and called police.

Police went to the home where they detained and questioned the man, before releasing him. The driver, who has not been identified, has not been charged.

Police are trying to determine if the driver was intoxicated, officials said.
