2 Killed In Fiery Head On Crash Near Huffman

Collen Skelly and the driver of a Chevy Camaro were killed in a head on crash on FM 1485 near Huffman on Sunday morning, police said.

HUFFMAN, TX — Two people were killed and another critically injured in a fiery head on crash that closed a section of FM 1485 in Huffman on Sunday morning. The crash happened at about 3 a.m. at FM 1485 and Doriston Drive.

Investigators said 22-year-old Collen Skelly was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup with his passenger Michael Longoria, 22, east on FM 1485 shortly before 3 a.m., when he crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a Chevy Camaro.

Witnesses at a nearby gas station heard the crash, and ran to try and help. Witnesses told DPS investigators that as they arrived, the Camaro erupted in flames with the driver still inside the car.

The driver died at the scene, police said.

DPS investigators said the witnesses were able to smash out one of the windows and pull Skelly from the wrecked pickup.

Skelly was taken by EMS to Memorial Hermann Woodlands in critical condition, and died a short time later.

Longoria was also taken to Memorial Hermann Woodlands in critical condition, and is expected to recover.

DPS investigators said the woman driving the Camaro was burned beyond recognition. Her identity has not been released.

DPS investigators said alcohol and speed may have played a role. Autopsies have been ordered for both drivers.
