Animal enforcement officers: Houston's bark within BARC
Participants in the Jan. 18 Kingwood Positive Interaction Program (PIP) meeting learned about the size and complexity of Houston’s animal enforcement operation from one of its many dedicated law enforcement officers. From enforcing noise regulations about pet barking to responding to animal cruelty and abuse reports, behavioral complaints, dog bites and animal/gang related issues, these legally empowered law enforcement officers are a critical part of Houston’s overall animal control and management organization, generally described as Houston’s “BARC.”
