Q: I saw some amazing plants at the parks of Big Bend. Can I grow any of them in my Houston garden?
A: A road trip to the Big Bend area is astonishing … almost as much for the over 10-hour drive, as for the changes in the natural scenery as we move from the lush green of the gulf coastal prairies to the hill country and, finally, the Chihuahuan desert. Many of the changes in the landscape happen as you cross the big rivers, the Brazos, Colorado and eventually the Pecos in the desert with canyons all around you.
