County Wraps Up $10.2M Wilson Road Widening Project

The project involved widening Wilson Road from two into a four lane boulevard, from Beltway 8 to Atascocita Road.

HUMBLE, TX — The widening of Wilson Road in northeast Harris County has been completed four months ahead of schedule. Houston-based SER Construction, began the $10.2 million project in January 2018, and wrapped up in June, well ahead of the October deadline, officials said.

The project involved widening Wilson Road from two into a four lane boulevard, from Beltway 8 to Atascocita Road.

The Harris County road project are among many that are being funded by the 2016 bond. Officials said the widening project will help ease the growing traffic congestion in that region.

"There are some folks that say if you don't build the roads, they won't come, and that's actually not true," Pct. Commissioner Jack Cagle told the Houston Chronicle "We need to make sure that we have adequate mobility. It's not 'If you build it, they will come,' it's 'They are coming, we best make sure that we are on top of it.' To that end, we're trying the very best we can to be on top of our growth and development."
