Fiery Big Rig Crash Kills 1, Closes I-69 In Humble
Humble police are investigating a big rig crash that killed the driver and has closed southbound Interstate 69 between Kingwood and Humble.
HUMBLE, TX — The driver of an 18-wheeler was killed in a fiery crash on the Eastex Freeway south Friday morning. The crash happened at about 1 a.m. on Interstate 69 south, north of Townsend Road in Humble.
Investigators with the Humble Police Department said the driver of the big rig slammed into a guardrail, rupturing his fuel tank, which ignited the cab. The unidentified driver was killed in the crash.
Police closed sections of I-69 south between Kingwood Drive and Townsend Road, and drivers are being diverted onto the southbound feeder road.

The closure impacted traffic for most of the morning on Friday. Officials were able to open the Eastex Freeway shortly before noon. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
