Currently, only about 18% of the American population is covered by Medicare, the United States’ public health insurance scheme for citizens 65 or older. And approximately 25% of these enrollees are either in fair or poor health. Many of those registered for Medicare are located in Florida, California, and Texas – states with the largest numbers of adults aged 65 or older. Many of our own readers at The Tribune are in fact among this demographic.
