Humble Citizen Aids Pct. 4 Deputy With Arrest

A person from Humble helped a Pct. 4 deputy perform an arrest.

HUMBLE, TX — On July 14, Cody Seymour and Maranda Faye Poller were cruising down South Houston Ave. in Humble in a car they had allegedly stolen when Deputy M. Jones of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office tried to conduct a traffic stop.

Seymour, who was behind the wheel, pulled the car over. When Jones got out of his cruiser Seymour took off running. Jones chased Seymour for about one-quarter of a mile before catching him.

When Jones brought Seymour back to the 1500 block of South Houston Ave., where he'd stopped the car, he found that the car wasn't there. It seems that Poller had slipped into the driver's seat and taken off after the foot race started.

Seymour and Poller probably thought they had outsmarted the system. All that had to happen was Poller ditching the car and they'd be home free. After all, no car car no crime right? Wrong.

See, Seymour and Poller hadn't reckoned with three things: the fact that a cop chasing somebody down the street tends to attract attention; everyone has a cell phones and most people aren't shady as a live oak in August.

When Poller took off in the allegedly stolen car, someone saw her and started following her. The witness called 9-1-1 and told dispatch what had just gone down and that he was following Poller in the vehicle.

Dispatch put Poller's description and the description of the car out on blast. Sure enough, an Humble PD officer spotted Poller, and the witness following her, and made an arrest.

Both Seymour and Poller were taken to county and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest. Mark Herman, Pct. 4 Constable, thanked the concerned citizens for their involvement.
