Kingwood Teen Killed In Shooting Monday Night

A 14-year-old boy was found dead after a witness heard gunshots in the Kings Mill subdivision. The teen was a student at New Caney ISD.

KINGWOOD, TX — A Kingwood teen was shot and killed in the Kings Mill subdivision Monday night.

A witness was walking on North Kings Mill Lane at around 8:20 p.m. Monday when she heard gunshots and soon after saw two Black men running from the area. She found the boy on the sidewalk, authorities said.

The boy, who was 14 years old, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries, according to authorities. The name of the teen has not been released.

The Kings Mill subdivision is located within the New Caney ISD zone, and Scott Powers, the school district's executive director of public relations, confirmed the teen was a student in one of the district's schools.

"We are deeply saddened by this news, and our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends at this time," Powers said in a statement.

The Houston Police Department confirmed in a tweet that the victim was the son of an HPD officer.

"The family asks for prayers and that their privacy be respected in their time of grief," HPD said in a statement.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
