Metal Shard Damages 6 Vehicles, Closes I-69 North In Humble

A section of I-69 north near Bush Intercontinental Airport was closed after a shard of metal from the roadway damaged several vehicles.

HUMBLE, TX — Wear and tear is likely to blame for a piece of metal that popped up in one of the main lanes of traffic on Interstate 69 and Will Clayton Parkway, damaging 6 vehicles including an 18-wheeler, police said.

The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Friday when a jagged piece of metal between the freeway sections popped up in one of the traffic lanes, officials said.

Crews from the Texas Department of Transportation were called out to repair the damaged section of roadway and flatten the piece of metal, officials said.
