NEW CANEY, TX — Sometimes its best to let go, other times its better to hold on tight. For Gerald Green the smart thing may have been to just walk away.

Late on July 2 or early on July 3, Green and Lee were having a night out at a bar in the 2800 block of East Richey Road, most likely Cash County Line, near Intercontinental Airport.

Green allegedly grabbed Lee and sped off down Richey, her body hanging out the window. Once Green got his truck up to speed, he allegedly let her go. Gravity did the rest.
Lee was pulled under the wheels of the truck, she suffered severe injuries to her head and chest. She was taken to a local hospital before being evaced to the Texas Medical Center.
Lee hung on until July 13, when she succumbed to her injuries. Green went to ground after the incident.
Cops in Harris, Montgomery and Liberty counties were looking for him and he was in the wind. It wasn't until someone remembered that Green had a couple of hunting leases out north of Huntsville in Houston County, up around Crockett, that investigators started to zero in.
After he allegedly killed Lee, Green got himself a new girlfriend, who is also rumored to be from Houston County. The theory is that Green's new bae helped him hide from the cops.
Once word got out that the cops were looking in Houston County, Green decided to turn himself in. He went down to Conroe and surrendered to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, he's been in jail for a couple of days waiting transfer back to Houston.
