Smash-and-Grab Burglaries at Porter, Kingwood Gas Stations
Gas stations in Porter and Kingwood were hit in smash-and-grab burglaries.

PORTER, TX — The gang that can't steal straight strikes again. On Sunday, Aug. 21, an unidentified group backed a stolen F-350 through the front door of a Shell station and tried to jack an ATM.
Not only did the crew fail to clear the target — the station, located in the 23000 block of U.S. 59/I-69, was occupied at the time of the burglary — they missed their mark.
When they backed the truck into the building they hit an employee's car. The collision between the truck and the building knocked over some cases of water bottles.

The crew also failed to do any recon on the cash machine, they didn't know that the ATM's anchor points had been reinforced after a previous burglary. So, even after knocking the machine over and breaking the top the crew wasn't able to get any money.

As they arrived on the scene, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office were able to detain a person of interest. A search of the area recovered various items of clothing that five-oh think the perps dropped.
Although, this was the first smash and grab in Porter in a good long while, it fits the M.O. of a series of burglaries that happened in early August throughout the Humble-Kingwood area.
One of stores that had been previously hit, the Smart Stop Convenience Store in the 2500 block of Chestnut Ridge near Kingwood Drive, was burglarized again.
At around 3:20 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 23, someone walked through the broken glass in the store's front window, stole several cartons of cigarettes, jimmied the register drawer open and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
