City Of Irving: City Of Irving Provides Winter Weather Updates

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for parts of North Texas region through Thursday, Feb. 24. Due to the inclement winter weather, effective Feb. 23, all Irving Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m., city recreation centers will close at 6 p.m. and polling stations will close at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

Additionally, the Irving Golf Club is closed. Effective Feb. 24, Solid Waste Services will suspend trash, recycling and brush/bulky item collection. Additionally the Hunter Ferrell Landfill will be closed.

During this inclement weather event, general updates on city operations will be available at CityofIrving.org, on the city’s Twitter feed (twitter.com/thecityofirving) and Facebook page (facebook.com/thecityofirving). Tips for residents

• Outside water service: Turn off sprinklers, disconnect and drain hoses and cover outdoor faucets and exposed pipes.
• Pets: If possible, bring inside for the duration of the event. Provide warm shelters if unable to bring pets indoors.
• Indoor plumbing: Drip faucets for any plumbing adjacent to an outside wall to keep pipes from freezing. Open cabinet doors to improve air flow to pipes.
• Power: Expect and prepare for electricity outages. Contact Oncor to report power outages.
