Here are the top five stories today in Irving:

  1. Dallas County is soon to launch an online survey on health literacy, reports Jacob Reyes. All residents 18 and older are eligible to participate in the short query, which is available for the next six weeks. The 2019 survey revealed that low health literacy reduced residents' ability to access healthcare and manage illness. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. A social media challenge is inviting youth to shoot others with BB guns and other 'toy' firearms, and Irving Police are offering a warning. The 'Orbeez Challenge' is trending, but Irving-based law enforcement experts say that shooting people with hard plastic, metal or gel-filled projectiles can cause injury and result in felony charges. Click over to the article to get the details. (Irving Weekly)
  3. The Katy Trail in Northwest Dallas is frequented by around 1.5 million visits annually. The charity organization Friends of The Katy Trail is committed to maintaining the 3.5-mile multi-use path that stretches through Downtown Dallas. They've set a lofty $100,000 goal for the Spring Support Campaign, but say that's just about one-tenth of what's required to maintain the trail for a year. (My Sweet Charity)
  4. Get the details about the Bush sisters' new kids' book at NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. The pair were in Arlington on Tuesday to promote it.
  5. Traveling soon? Find out North Texas Airports' stands on mask mandates via NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.
