(expressnews.com) — Kerrville and Kerr County residents are still grappling with a July 4 flood that killed 119 people and stripped more than half the vegetation from the Guadalupe River’s floodway, but experts say the river can recover with time and smart restoration. Local officials, nonprofits and state agencies are coordinating debris cleanup, replanting efforts, and wildlife monitoring, and they’re asking riverfront landowners to help rebuild a healthier riparian zone.

• Lyda Morton: Aug. 17, 1923-Dec. 10, 2025 – The Kerr County Lead (kerrcountylead.com) — Kerrville is remembering Lyda Morton, who moved here in 2005 after a long, colorful life that included wartime work, ranching, and years of community involvement. She died at 102, and friends and family can honor her at a memorial service on Monday, December 22, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
