• Local server gifted $3,100 tip from group of local men (lufkindailynews.com) — A group of 34 Lufkin men quietly pooled $100 each to surprise Pelican Pointe server Beverly Wall with a $3,106 Christmas-season tip, helping her replace a car after a recent wreck. The anonymous group, which started this tradition years ago, hopes their small-town generosity inspires similar efforts beyond Lufkin and throughout Angelina County. 
• East Texas Basketball Scores: Dec. 9 (tylerpaper.com) — Lufkin High basketball fans saw mixed results Tuesday, with the boys rolling past Whitehouse 74–32 while the girls fell 56–40 in district play. The roundup also lists dozens of other East Texas boys’ and girls’ scores, giving context on how regional rivals are performing early in the season.
• Family Crisis Center of East Texas opens new activity center (ktre.com) — A new activity center at the Family Crisis Center of East Texas is now open, giving local survivors and their children more space to heal, play, and store belongings safely. Serving nine Deep East Texas counties, including Lufkin, the center supports hundreds of kids each year, and Lufkin Eagle Scouts will soon add a small indoor playground to the facility.
