• First Day hikes in the Highland Lakes (101highlandlakes.com) — Marble Falls residents have several nearby options for First Day hikes to kick off 2026, including free-entry Balcones Canyonlands trails off RR 1431. Local parks on CR 343A, Shaw Drive, Hollingsworth Road, and CR 343 also welcome self-guided hikes, with modest admission fees and sunrise-to-sunset access for walkers, runners, and cyclists. 
• PEC's Power of Change program helping the local community (dailytrib.com) — A local Marble Falls nonprofit, now called Ark of Highland Lakes, recently received a $5,000 grant from PEC’s Power of Change program to add air conditioning to shelters for families, women, and children in crisis. The member-funded round-up program has raised over $1 million since 2016, supporting 102 organizations plus direct bill assistance and youth initiatives across the cooperative’s service area.
