City Council approves major changes to Frisco school zones
Frisco School Zones Undergo Significant Transformation for 2023-24 Academic Year

Frisco, Texas - In an effort to institute significant changes to school zone regulations, the Frisco Independent School District (FISD) has plans to substantially modify its low-speed areas in time for the new academic year commencing in August, as per Dallas Metro News.
On July 3rd, the Frisco City Council members approved an extensively revised list of all FISD school zones for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year. This nod of agreement signifies a range of adjustments, which include additions, changes, or even the removal of certain locations and schedules related to the imposition of speed restrictions throughout the district.
One significant change announced involves the addition of FISD's newest educational facility, Wilkinson Middle School, set to begin operations this forthcoming August. Clarifying the impending modifications, the city council provided a representative illustration:

The present zone of Panther High School will see an expansion to include the newly constructed campus. This extension will broaden the school zone to include parts of Championship Drive and Dakotah Drive, as outlined in the documents shared during the council meeting.
In addition, substantial changes have been proposed for the school zones of Gunstream Elementary School and Wester Middle School. According to the updated plan, these zones will now end at a new traffic signal placed at the intersection of Coit Road and Cano Road, as reflected in the council meeting documents.

However, it is noteworthy that Wortham Intermediate School, also set to open in August, was not included in the discussed updates.
For an exhaustive list of all the approved location and timing changes, the council refers the public to two helpful resources. One is a consolidated list of changes available online, and the other is a map compiled by the city's administrative staff.
In order to streamline the search process, FISD residents are afforded the option to use the district's school zone locator, an instrument that offers information on the school zone allocated to their respective homes.
