Collin College News: Collin College Students Named To All-State Bands

Feb. 9, 2022 – Seven Collin College music students have been named to the Texas Community College Band Directors Association (TCCBDA) All-State music ensembles for 2021-22. The students will perform with the All-State Symphonic Band and All-State Jazz Ensemble as part of the Texas Music Educators Association convention, Feb. 12 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

The students named to the All-State Symphonic Band are: Dawson Hatton of Round Rock on clarinet; Adam Plummer of McKinney on trumpet; Marc-Anthony Lord of Penenomé, Cocle, Panama on euphonium; Wyatt Hayes of McKinney on tuba; and Wesley Price of Plano with percussion. Jason Martinez of Carrollton was named as the alternate to this ensemble on bass trombone. Plummer and Hayes also performed in this ensemble in 2020, the last time it was held in person.

Noah Hawkins of Prosper on tenor saxophone, and Brandon Trinh of Corona, California, on trombone, have been named to the All-State Jazz Ensemble. Mark Medina of Anna was named as the alternate to this ensemble on trumpet. These students recorded auditions in October and November and were chosen from among two-year college students across Texas for these positions.
