Here are the top three stories in McKinney-Frisco today:

  1. If you smell gas in the air, it may not be a leak — according to Atmos Energy, it's likely an excessive amount of the smelly (yet harmless) chemical mercaptan. The high levels of mercaptan, which is added to natural gas to help people identify leaks, are more of a nuisance than a threat to the public. The McKinney Fire Department reports responding to numerous gas-related calls over the last few days, but in most cases, crews are not finding gas leaks. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. A Frisco-based company's COVID-19 breathalyzer test has received FDA emergency use authorization. The test, made by InspectIR Systems, is authorized for adults and can provide diagnostic results in three minutes. In a research study of 2,409 people, the breathalyzer accurately identified 91.2 percent of positive samples and 99.3 percent of negative samples. (Bloomberg)
