About Kolache Shoppe
Using the same dough recipe since 1970, Kolache Shoppe has served fresh kolaches and warm hospitality to generations. A pastry of fluffy, enriched dough and a sweet topping, kolaches were first introduced to Texas by Czech immigrants in the 1800s. The beloved pastry has evolved into a unique regional offering. Learning the secrets of the best kolache in Houston from founder Erwin Ahrens, owners Lucy and Randy Hines took over the business in 2014, giving the bakery a modern refresh while honoring tradition. In addition to a variety of sweet kolaches, including classic apricot, poppy seed, and cream cheese, Kolache Shoppe offers savory klobasniky, with fillings such as sausage, egg and cheese, jalapeño kielbasa or smoked brisket, as well as monthly seasonal specials, collaborative flavors in partnership with local food businesses and premium coffee drinks using local coffee roasters. Current locations include Houston-Richmond Ave (1970), Houston-Heights (2018), Pearland (2023) and now Celina.
