Here are the top three stories today in McKinney-Frisco:
- In mid-May, 18-year-old McKinney resident Todd Hutchinson will kick off the Independent Art House. The live atmosphere of the art house, which will be located inside Filtered Coffee, will allow members to join in workshops on topics ranging from filmmaking to songwriting and improv performance. In the after-hours of Filtered Coffee, the shop will transition into an art house for the artist community in McKinney. Membership is open to all interested patrons. (Star Local Media)
- Following the pandemic lull, the McKinney wedding industry has been experiencing a boom. Wedding planner Jennifer Klassen attributes this boom to "do-overs" from canceled events during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wendy Kidd, founder and owner of Each & Every Detail wedding planning in McKinney, advises couples to be patient with wedding staff during this uncharacteristically busy time. (Community Impact)
- Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced that Joe Angel Rodriguez, 44, was sentenced to life in prison for indecency with a child. After spending 10 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child, Rodriguez gained close access to children in 2 separate families, one in McKinney and one in Farmers Branch. Willis exclaims that the life sentence will ensure that the convicted child predator will never have access to children ever again. (Press Release Desk)
