Here are the top three stories in McKinney-Frisco today:
- Local drivers will soon have the opportunity to weigh in on the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)'s proposed plan to widen US 380. Officials with TxDOT will be hosting a meeting on May 10 at Rock Hill High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to discuss the widening of the roadway, which passes through Frisco and McKinney. Information about the event will also be posted online that day, viewable through May 25. (Community Impact)
- A local initiative is using ceramics to help address food insecurity across McKinney. On May 12, St. Peter's Episcopal Church will host Empty Bowls McKinney, a fundraising event featuring handmade ceramic bowls crafted by community members. Proceeds from Empty Bowls will benefit Community Lifeline Center as well as Community Garden Kitchen. (McKinney Courier-Gazette)
- Calling all Shakespeare lovers: the Young Actors Guild will present a "dark and rugged" version of Macbeth from Apr. 28 through Apr. 30 at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. An additional performance will be held at Shakespeare In The Park in McKinney on May 7. Tickets are available at mckinneyperformingartscenter.org for $12; discounts are available for seniors, students, children, and YAG members. (North Texas e-News)
