Frisco, Texas - In a demonstration of their enduring dedication to education and community development, the Dallas-based business titan, Satish Gupta, founder, president, and CEO of SB International Inc., in unison with his wife Yasmin, an alumna of the University of Dallas, have pledged an impressive $3 million donation to the University of North Texas.

This generous donation is allocated to support the establishment of a modern career center at the recently inaugurated Frisco campus of the university. This marks the first endowment gift for this emerging branch campus in Collin County, which began its academic journey this year.

The philanthropic ventures of the Guptas are not limited to this contribution. Eminent figures in the private steel sector, their undertakings extend beyond mere business success. Mr. Gupta, a respected economics graduate from India's Loyola College and holder of an MBA in international trade from the University of Dallas, along with his wife’s concurrent educational credentials, have continually emphasized societal obligations.

In 2005, the couple founded the Gupta Agarwal Charitable Foundation, which stands as a testament to their unwavering support towards education, public health, medical research, and cultural initiatives. Their philanthropy includes support for Dallas’ annual Diwali Mela festival of lights, significant donations like a $12 million gift to the University of Dallas in 2013 for a new business school edifice, and a $5 million grant to Baylor Scott and White’s heart hospital in Plano in 2019.

In a statement, Satish Gupta conveyed, “Yasmin and I are honored to contribute to UNT at Frisco’s vision of fostering student success. We believe that education should go beyond classrooms, and we’re proud that the Satish and Yasmin Gupta Career Center will represent our commitment to UNT students and help equip them with the necessary tools and experiences to excel in their chosen fields. … We know that when you believe in yourself, your dreams will come true.”

In acknowledgment of the transformative donation, UNT President Neal Smatresk underscored the profound influence the career center would have in fostering vital connections between higher education and industry. Smatresk stated, as reported by Denton Record Chronicle, “With this visionary support, we can provide even more scholarships, cutting-edge programs and immersive learning opportunities for our students.”

Positioned on a vast 100-acre plot of land, generously donated by the city itself, the Frisco campus stands as a testament to community collaboration and progressive academic venture. A dedication ceremony for the new Satish and Yasmin Gupta Career Center, a facility embodying the entrepreneurial spirit and generous ethos of its benefactors, is scheduled for Sept. 15, marking a significant milestone in the campus's evolution.
