- Midland and Odessa continue to stay at the top of the list for year-over-year rental growth. The National Rent Report produced by Apartmentlist.com shows a 37.8 percent increase over the last 12 months in Odessa and Midland combined. The average one-bedroom in Odessa is averaged at $836 a month — this is with a 0.6 percent increase in rent through March. (Subscription: MRT News)
- A fatal accident in Midland on Apr. 3 resulted in the death of the motorcycle driver and critical injuries to the passenger. The driver was identified as John Soloman Lee, 23, who was declared dead upon arriving at the Midland Memorial Hospital; his passenger, Annalise Lee, is at the hospital in critical condition. The Midland Police Department is investigating the incident during which a Jeep collided with a black Honda motorcycle at an intersection. (KOSA)
- The Midland Development Corporation and Midland City Council have received four proposals for potential hotels to replace the Western United Life building, which was recently demolished as part of the city's downtown revitalization efforts. The Midland City Council will review these proposals and discuss options at an upcoming meeting. The goal is to find a project that fits the aesthetic of downtown Midland and provides new amenities for both residents and visitors. (Your Basin)
