- The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans for small non-farm businesses in Texas, including Midland and Ector counties. These loans are aimed at mitigating economic hardships due to a drought that started in November. The deadline to apply for this assistance is Nov. 17, 2023. (Plainview Daily Herald)
- Law Enforcement Officials in Ector County are praising the FDA's decision to make Narcan, the drug that reverses opioid overdoses, available over the counter. The move to over-the-counter Narcan is expected to happen this summer. The Ector County Sheriff's Office states that this decision will help save lives in West Texas and allow officials to think of long-term solutions to the opioid epidemic. (YourBasin)
- Grant McCasland has been named the new head basketball coach at Texas Tech following his success with the Mean Green basketball team. McCasland is originally from Irving, Texas, and has also served as head coach at Midland College. He is expected to help the Texas Tech team get back on track following a series of highs and lows.
