Flash Fire Injures 20 At Pasadena Chemical Plant
Fire officials said the injured personnel were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

PASADENA, TX — At least 20 people were injured during a flash fire at the Kuraray America Eval chemical plant on Saturday. The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 11500 Bay Area Blvd.
Fire officials said the injured personnel were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, KPRC reported.
The incident did not trigger any shelter-in-place orders from emergency management officials.

Meanwhile, Kuraray America Eval which produces polymers and resins used in plastics, released a statement that said there had been an explosion at the plant, and that they were working with fire and emergency management officials to resolve the issue, KHOU reported.
The City of Pasadena released the following statement to its Facebook page:

"City of Pasadena Office of Emergency Management has received a level 3 notification from Kuraray America Eval located at 11500 Bay Area Blvd. There is no danger to the public at this time. Incident Description: A fire explosion happened in the EVAL Plant. Multiple people down. Emergency vehicles on their way. The city will continue to monitor the situation and advise you if you need to take action. No shelter in place for residents at this time."
Officials have not yet revealed what caused the flash fire.
