La Porte Police Appoints Shamarian Lister Crime Victim's Liaison

Lister has a long history of public service, beginning her dispatch career with the Beaumont Police Department in 2000.

LA PORTE, TX — The La Porte Police Department has announced the appointment of Shamarian Lister as the department’s new Crime Victim’s Liaison. Lister has a long history of public service, beginning her dispatch career with the Beaumont Police Department in 2000. After working for Beaumont for a year, she became a Certified Training Officer for dispatchers, and achieved several accomplishments and awards while working with Beaumont PD.

Lister became a certified trainer for TCIC/NCIC, received the Team 911 award and she also received the employee of the month award to name a few of her accomplishments. Lister beghan the next phase of her career with the La Porte Police Department in December of 2009, and was promoted to Communications and Records supervisor in October 2011.

In her role as the Crime Victim’s Liaison representative, Lister will be be responsible for helping crime victims to rebuild their lives. The Victim Assistance Program strictly adheres to the belief that no victim should be alone.

The Victim Assistance Program offers several specialized services, such as crisis counseling and intervention, criminal justice support and advocacy, victims’ rights notification, or simple acts of kindness which can only come from listening and providing emotional support.

The La Porte Police Department’s Victims Assistance Program focuses on crimes involving bodily injury, and services are offered at the scene by the responding officer, and again after the Liaison makes a daily review of known criminal incidents and then places calls to all known victims.

Crime victims can initiate their own contact with the Victims Assistance Liaison by stopping by or calling the police department for an appointment.
