Man And Horse Killed Crossing Busy Houston Highway: Police
Richard Wright and his horse were killed Sunday night when Wright apparently rode his horse into traffic.

CROSBY, TX β A brand new mother and her family who were on the way home from the hospital with their newborn baby, ran over and killed a man trying to cross a busy highway on horseback.
The accident happened at about 8 p.m. Sunday at Lord Road and U.S. 90 east, police said.
Investigators said that Richard Wright was trying cross the busy freeway, when he and his horse were hit and killed by an SUV driven by a family with a newborn.

Investigators said the areas were Wright was riding his horse was not well lit, and they are trying to determine if the horse was frightened by the traffic and darted in panic, or if Wright was trying to beat the traffic.

Officials said the parents and newborn were OK, but the 2-year-old toddler was slightly injured by flying glass, and is expected to be OK.
