Schools Near Deer Park Fire Cancel Classes
Several Houston area schools near the Deer Park chemical fire announced they were canceling classes before the fire had been extinguished.
HOUSTON — School districts near the ITC facility Deer Park that caught fire on Sunday canceled classes for Wednesday. Officials announced the cancellations before news broke early Wednesday that the fire that had raged for nearly four days, had been extinguished.
The following school districts will not have classes or after school activities on Wednesday:
- Deer Park
- Channelview
- Pasadena
- La Porte
- Galena Park
- YES Prep East End and Southeast
- KIPP Schools: campuses include KIPP Legacy, KIPP Polaris, KIPP Voyage, KIPP Northeast College Prep, KIPP Intrepid, KIPP Explore, KIPP Climb and KIPP Prime.
- San Jacinto College
- Clear Horizons in Clear Creek ISD is closed due to San Jacinto College being closed. All other schools are open.
