Allen - Set for June 27th, a pivotal assembly will see Armor Brewing Company making its case before the Allen City Council. The Brewery aims to gain approval for a unique proposition, introducing two pickleball courts, that intertwines athletic and gastronomic experiences.

Earlier this month, on June 6, the blueprint of this ambitious project was shared in a gathering with the City of Allen Planning and Zoning Commission. Hailey Angel, the Planning Manager, laid out potential zoning modifications that could facilitate Armor Brewing Co.'s creation of an outdoor entertainment district in their upcoming venue. Notably, the site is favorably located at the intersection of Bethany Drive and Prestige Circle.

The proposal critically scrutinizes two key parcels, integral to the construction of the expected pickleball courts and associated parking infrastructure capable of handling increased vehicular traffic. The two plots, encompassing around 3.53 acres in total, form the cornerstone of the brewery's novel vision.

The proposed outdoor sports courts have a unique footprint, with their boundaries stretching beyond the property line and into the adjacent lot at 9 Prestige Circle, extending as far as 7 Prestige Circle. This atypical layout requires the careful consideration and consent of various parties involved.

In addition, Armor Brewing Co. has revealed its intention to augment the pub's parking capacity by creating eight more spots. Currently, the brewpub is outfitted with 47 parking slots, which is well short of the required 71. In a solution-oriented approach, the company has forged a shared parking agreement with 7 Prestige Circle, guaranteeing the allocation of the remaining 24 parking spaces as demanded by city regulation.

To further cater to its guests, the preliminary plan includes the addition of 28 parking spaces to 7 Prestige Circle and another five to the pub's parking lot, thereby significantly expanding the venue's parking capacity.

Armor Brewing Co. is more than a brewing entity, as it eagerly works to nurture a sense of community in its soon-to-be-opened brewpub. With the grand opening expected this fall, the company is enthusiastic about offering a community-centered experience.

The chosen location for the pub is currently designated as a light industrial zone. The proposed pickleball courts represent a departure from the existing approved uses of the zone. This incongruity led the Planning and Zoning Commission to unanimously forward the matter to the council, paving the way for the impending discussion on June 27.
