Plano - As we approach the summer and families prepare for summer getaways, the urgent requirement for blood donations remains prominent, according to Carter BloodCare.

According to Dallas Metro News, the local blood supply dips significantly during the summer holidays, as high school blood drives contribute to about a quarter of the area's blood collection. This fact was highlighted by James Black, Senior Public Relations Specialist at Carter BloodCare. Regardless of the season, he asserts, the demand for blood, platelets, and plasma is constant.

To tackle this issue, Carter BloodCare and KZPS Lone Star 92.5 radio station are joining forces to host a blood donation drive from June 12th to 17th. Mobile donation units will be visiting numerous districts within the Dallas-Fort Worth area during this period, such as Fort Worth, Las Colinas, Allen, Plano, Garland, North Richland Hills, and The Colony.

Individuals generous enough to donate at these sites will have the chance to receive a KZPS blood drive T-shirt, while stocks last.

Carter BloodCare will also celebrate World Blood Donor Day on June 14th. To honor this global event advocating the need for blood donations and thanking volunteer donors, they are launching a special lottery.

Donors who visit a Carter BloodCare center on this day will get a scratch-off card that could reveal a range of exciting prizes. These include 300 donor reward points, gift cards worth $150 for Visa fuel and $250 for Target, Bose QuietComfort earbuds, a Yeti Tundra Haul cooler, a Traeger Tailgater 20 grill, and a pair of Southwest Airlines round-trip flight tickets, as revealed by Black.

Carter BloodCare, a non-profit organization, runs over 20 donation centers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Frisco, McKinney, Plano, and Flower Mound. They also manage mobile blood drives throughout the region.

Black emphasized that the need for blood donations extends to regular medical procedures as well as emergency situations. This includes treatments for victims of severe trauma, car accidents, and cancer patients among others.

Those interested in contributing to this cause can learn more about blood donation and schedule appointments to donate blood, plasma, or platelets at any Carter BloodCare location by visiting www.carterbloodcare.org.

Eligible donors need to be 16 years or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in overall good health, as per Carter BloodCare's guidelines.
