Plano - Reasserting its dedication to transformative healthcare leadership, Medical City Plano has announced the strategic appointment of Ben Coogan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 26. This decision reflects the hospital's continuing drive to maintain and elevate its high standing within the healthcare field.
Coogan, a Medical City Plano alumnus, has previously held the role of CEO at Medical City Fort Worth, carving out a substantial role for himself in the medical sector. Following this change, Coogan steps into the shoes of Jyric Sims, a renowned figure who has just been promoted to the position of President at the West Florida Division of HCA Healthcare.
As the incoming captain at the helm of the Medical City Plano ship, a hospital boasting 600 acute care beds and a dedicated staff of over 2,200, Coogan is primed to guide the institution towards uncharted territories of medical excellence.

Coogan's stint at Medical City Fort Worth was notable for significant accomplishments, including the launch of several groundbreaking programs and a substantial expansion of organ transplant services. These milestones were recognized in a recent press release, which also shed light on Coogan's crucial role in a sweeping $30 million facility expansion project.
Coogan's healthcare journey, which spans almost two decades, had its roots at Medical City Plano, where he started as a marketing representative. He subsequently ascended the career ladder through various roles within the Baylor Healthcare System, including physician liaison, administrative director of Accelecare Wound Center, practice administrator, and area administrator. Coogan's career path eventually led him back to Medical City Healthcare, where he held multiple executive roles at prestigious institutions like Medical City Dallas, Medical City Children’s Hospital, Medical City Arlington, and Medical City Fort Worth.

His career portfolio includes the notable accomplishment of serving as the CEO of Medical City Dallas, Medical City Children’s Hospital, and Medical City Arlington. Coogan's impressive range of leadership experiences, combined with his unwavering commitment to healthcare, solidifies his suitability for this new role, as he is expected to usher Medical City Plano into a new era of patient-centered care and innovative medical solutions.
