2 More Coronavirus Deaths In WilCo Raise Death Count To 54
Williamson County and Cities Health District officials said a man and woman in their 90s were the latest victims of the respiratory illness.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Two more deaths from the coronavirus were reported to start the week, with a man and woman in their 90s becoming the latest victims of the respiratory illness on Sunday. The death toll since the onset of illness now stands at 54.
Williamson County and Cities Health District officials are precluded from releasing further identifying details due to patient privacy laws. Round Rock has had the lion's share of deaths since the onset of the respiratory illness, with 32 fatalities recorded by health officials.
“Please join me in praying for the families of the two people who lost their battle with COVID-19 today. We must continue to be vigilant in our efforts to protect ourselves and others by following the CDC guidelines to stop the spread of this disease,” Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a prepared statement.

The two deaths bring to 19 the total number of deaths blame on coronavirus in barely three weeks' time. On Saturday, officials reported a man in his 60s had died of the virus after two men in their 50s and 70s died of the same cause on Friday. On Wednesday, two other men in their 70s succumbed to the powerful virus. A man in his 90s was reported to have died from the illness on Tuesday, preceded by the deaths of three more people on Monday.

As of Sunday, the number of reported cases of coronavirus stood at 3,810. The statistical dashboard maintained by the Williamson County and Cities Health District also indicates that 96 county residents are currently hospitalized, including 32 being treated at intensive care units and 14 placed on ventilators.

Those experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness such as cough, fever and shortness of breath are urged to contact their health care providers. However, health officials stress the importance of calling ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential spread of illness.
