1. Round Rock's Play for All Park expanding (kxan.com) — Round Rock’s Play for All Park is getting a major new sustainability-themed play pod, following City Council’s approval of the project earlier this month. The inclusive park on A.W. Grimes will add a recycling truck slide, interactive “recycling center,” and accessible globe wall, with construction already underway and completion expected by spring or summer 2026.
   

2. Brazos County District Attorney among 21 members appointed to Family Violence Criminal Homicide Prevention Task Force (kbtx.com) — Several Round Rock professionals have been appointed to a new statewide task force focused on preventing family-violence homicides, giving our community a direct voice in shaping Texas policy and data efforts. Their work will help analyze risk factors, guide training for frontline workers, and develop recommendations to better protect survivors across the state.
   

3. Basketball Recap: Manor Comes Up Short (maxpreps.com) — Round Rock Dragons fans can celebrate another strong road win after a 53–34 victory over Manor, extending the team’s road streak to 12 straight. Round Rock is now 14–4 and will close out the year facing Temple on December 29. Manor, meanwhile, looks to regroup before its January 2 matchup with Stony Point.
   

4. Crockett, Talarico to face off in Democratic prima- (taylorpress.net) — Round Rock residents may notice their state representative, James Talarico, now in a high-profile Democratic primary for U.S. Senate against Dallas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. The column also recaps major statewide debates over property taxes, jobs, drought, and livestock disease control that could indirectly affect local services and costs.
   

5. Darren Wade Trahan (jenningsdailynews.net) — Family and friends are mourning Darren Wade Trahan, who passed away December 17 at San Gabriel Care Center in Round Rock after a battle with cancer. The Temple resident and longtime Austin research lab tech was a Peace Corps veteran who loved the outdoors, travel, and his Labrador, Mary Jane. A memorial service will be held later in Jennings, Louisiana.
